Alumni Relations

Chi Psi is a life-long membership and we pride ourselves on our large alumni base, many of whom had made great achievements after their life of living in the Lodge. Furthermore, Alpha  Eta Delta has three volunteer boards that help support the overall operations of the Lodge. Those boards are as followed:

The Corporation (Chi Psi Association of Alpha Eta Delta)

History
The Chi Psi Association of Alpha Eta Delta was formed on February 15th, 1938, in the State of Oregon as a Nonprofit Corporation. It is the legal entity “corporation” that owns land and structure ( “The Lodge”) at 1018 Hilyard St. that was constructed in 1935 and has since received four additional major renovations.

In 1962, the East/West portion was extended West to provide nine new single rooms and a social room and back patio. In 1988, the kitchen was expanded to its current footprint to provide a large dishwasher space, walk-in freezer/fridge, and new stainless steel sinks, counters, and shelving. In 2001, the original roof and the original wrought iron fire escapes and balconies were replaced, women’s and men’s bathrooms were remodeled and new foyer oak floors and inlay installed. Most recently completed in 2020 after a three-year planning and execution process, the 2nd and 3rd floors were stripped to studs and then rebuilt with the latest city code approved electrical, fire sprinkler, and fire alarm system, In addition, the 3rd-floor bathroom was added and the 2nd-floor bathroom retitled and re-plumbed. All rooms were fitted with built-in furniture (desk, bed, closets & bookshelves) and oak floors. In the original 1935 Lodge, the same vintage oak flooring from a Seattle house was reclaimed and used to patch and fill in where the original built-in closes were located at the openings of each room. All room heating is now delivered via infrared panels with a digital thermostat. A new laundry room was installed in the basement and the study library was relocated to the third floor and enlarged. Also, the kitchen received plumbing upgrades and a remodeled storage/chef office.

Mission
The purpose of the Chi Psi Association of Alpha Eta Delta is to provide an appealing, clean, safe, and functional space for studying, eating, gathering for events, and well-organized sleeping arrangements in alignment with Chi Psi Values.

Primary Responsibility
The “Corporation” (Chi Psi Association of Alpha Eta Delta) is responsible for collecting rent each month, managing the provision of meals prepared by a private chef, paying expenses associating with operations of the facility (e.g. fire insurance, taxes, utilities, mechanical equipment repair/replacement), and contracting with cleaning services to keep the facility presentable and safe to anyone visiting or residing in the Lodge.
